Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Enamel signs, also known as porcelain signs, gained immense popularity from the late 19th century through the mid-20th century for outdoor and indoor product promotion due to their durability and weather-resistant vitreous enamel coating.

These pieces were typically manufactured by fusing powdered glass to a heavy sheet metal base at extremely high temperatures, often utilizing screen-printing or stencilling techniques to apply multi-coloured branding.

Authentic items generally exhibit natural patination, including chipping around the mounting holes, surface oxidisation, slight convex warping from the firing process, and heavy-gauge steel construction rather than modern lightweight tin.

Displaying the piece as a standalone wall art focal point within industrial, eclectic, or contemporary spaces allows the distressed texture and bold typography to create a striking visual contrast.

Preservation involves gently cleaning the surface with a mild soap solution to remove accumulated dust and applying a microcrystalline wax to stabilise existing rust and protect the remaining porcelain enamel from further degradation.
