Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This seventeenth-century Jacobean oak cradle displays a dark brown timber tone across its surfaces, showing authentic age-related marks, surface wear, and historic alterations from its past use as a fireside log container. The rustic farmhouse piece incorporates a wooden hood over the head end, paired with fielded rectangular panels set into the side and end structures, and stands upon curved wooden rockers. Decorative turned wooden finials top the upright posts at the corners, while plain mouldings frame the sunken panels. Measuring 91 cm long by 71 cm high by 41 cm wide, the antique structure offers compact proportions suited to various interior layouts. Placed inside a home today, it functions as a decorative display container for dolls, cushions, or other items in a living room, hallway, or bedroom setting.

A hooded oak cradle is a traditional infant bed constructed during the 17th century, featuring an enclosed wooden canopy at one end designed to protect children from cold draughts in early domestic interiors.

These pieces were crafted using solid English oak, constructed with mortise and tenon joinery secured with wooden pegs, and fitted with side panels and wooden base rockers.

Authentic period cradles display evidence of hand-hewn joinery, hand-carved pegged construction, natural timber shrinkage along the grain, and deep surface oxidisation around early iron fittings or joints.

While unsuitable for modern childcare, an antique oak cradle functions as a decorative feature piece, ideal for holding rolled textiles, fireside logs, or potted indoor plants.

Maintain the timber by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish annually to preserve the patination while keeping the piece away from direct heat sources.
