LVS Decorative Arts has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
This table consists of a solid padouk top of fine, faded patina with moulded edge leading down to a carved frieze consisting of carved floral roundels and scrolling foliate decoration with carved gadroon design below.
The table retaining the original mirror to the rear with carved leaf decoration and central carved floral roundel below, all supported on a shaped plinth base with reeded decoration, terminating on four carved bun feet, the table with old red velvet panel to the back.
This style of table with foliate leaf carving is typically found on pieces of furniture from the Bombay region of India dating to around 1840-1860.
A very similar design of carving can be seen on a Prie-dieu chair in the book 'Furniture From British India & Ceylon' by Amin Jaffer on pages 336 & 337, Fig. 153.
This table is in very good condition for age, is of stable construction and can go straight into a home.
