Description

Sir John Fellowes of Carshalton was Sub-Governor of the South Sea Company (King George I was Governor). In 1720, approximately the date of this map, the South Sea Company took over the national debt. In August that year the stock price was £1000, however by the following month the South Sea Bubble burst and the stock value dropped by over 80%.

Fellowes was created a Baronet in 1719 and died in July 1724.
