We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

Jardinieres featuring inset ceramic tiles gained prominence during the Victorian and Edwardian eras, as advancements in industrial manufacturing allowed for durable architectural ceramics to be integrated into domestic decorative arts.

These items typically combine a robust metal framework, often crafted from solid brass or copper, with glazed earthenware or ceramic tiles held securely within a structural housing and raised on decorative feet.

Authenticity is evaluated by inspecting the maker marks on the reverse of the tiles, the natural patination and oxidisation of the brass components, and the traditional methods of joinery used in the metal frame.

It functions effectively as an accent piece on a sideboard, console table, or deep window sill, providing textural contrast through its combination of polished metal and printed ceramics when paired with foliage.

To preserve the materials, clean the ceramic tiles gently with a soft damp cloth, avoid harsh chemical abrasives on the metal frame, and use a plastic liner inside the vessel to protect the interior from moisture.
