A Staffordshire dessert service is a matched set of ceramic tableware, typically comprising a compote and multiple plates, produced in the pottery districts of Staffordshire, England, during the 1800s specifically for serving the final course of a meal.

These services were traditionally crafted from soft-paste or bone china, shaped using moulds, and finished with hand-painted overglaze enamel motifs, frequently featuring botanical designs set against a white glazed ground.

Authentic pieces often exhibit minor kiln imperfections, hand-applied enamel brushwork with characteristic fading, subtle crazing in the glaze, and occasionally impressed maker marks or pattern numbers on the underside.

These sets can be displayed within a glass-fronted cabinet, mounted as decorative wall plates, or utilised on a dining table to introduce traditional craftsmanship and colour into a modern interior.

Antique porcelain requires gentle hand washing in lukewarm water with mild detergent, avoiding dishwashers, abrasive sponges, and prolonged soaking to protect the delicate hand-painted enamel decoration.
