This pair of mid 19th-century Victorian country folk art butter prints consists of circular turned sycamore wood discs in a warm brown timber colour with a natural patination and clean surfaces. One print displays a carved wheat sheaf design, while the other features an acorn and oak leaf motif, both surrounded by a carved border detail and concentric circular mouldings. The turned edges show smooth grain patterns and gentle ageing. The dimensions are 10.8 cm high, 10.2 cm wide, and 10.2 cm deep. These tactile items work well in a rustic farmhouse interior for display on a kitchen shelf, pantry counter, or bookshelf. Their traditional circular forms and botanical relief carvings add historical texture to a modern kitchen setting, kitchen dresser, or mantelpiece, where they sit upright to show off the carved wood details and warm tones.

Antique butter prints, often referred to as butter stamps, were hand-carved wooden tools used in 18th and 19th-century dairies to decorate and identify home-made butter before market sale.

Dairy treen was predominantly carved from close-grained, non-resinous woods such as sycamore, beech, or boxwood to prevent sap from tainting the flavour of the butter.

Authentic Victorian butter stamps display uneven hand-carving marks, natural shrinkage along the wood grain, and a smooth patina resulting from historic handling and washing.

These carved wooden pieces work well displayed on open kitchen shelving, mounted inside wall boxes, or placed on sideboards alongside rustic ceramics.

Clean wooden treen gently using a soft dry brush, avoiding water immersion or harsh chemical detergents, and apply a thin layer of natural beeswax polish periodically.
