FAQs

A Welsh lip work basket is a traditional agricultural storage container traditionally used for farming and domestic tasks in rural Wales, characterised by its distinctive coiled straw and bramble construction.

These baskets are constructed using unpeeled bramble or briar to bind coils of wheat straw or rush, resulting in a robust, rigid structure designed for heavy agricultural use.

Authentic pieces display hand-coiled straw construction bound with split bramble, showing natural wear, age-related oxidation, and organic variations typical of vernacular craft.

This piece can be used as a tactile storage container for logs, blankets, or dried botanicals, adding organic texture to minimalist or rustic interior schemes.

Preserve antique straw and bramble by keeping the item in a stable environment away from direct sunlight, high humidity, and excessive moisture to prevent material degradation.
