FAQs

Console tables from the 1920s often combine classical revival elements, such as scrollwork and acanthus motifs, with durable materials like forged iron and shaped marble, reflecting the transitional aesthetic between traditional craftsmanship and early modern design.

These pieces typically feature hand-forged wrought iron frames joined by riveting or welding, paired with heavy inset marble slabs featuring moulded edges that rest securely on the metal base.

Authentication involves examining the ironwork for hand-hammered tool marks, natural oxidisation patterns beneath the finish, and the specific geological characteristics and wear patterns of the marble top.

Position the piece against a feature wall in a hallway or living room, styling the surface with minimalist decor items such as a ceramic vase or a bronze sculpture to balance the ornate ironwork.

Maintain the wrought iron by dusting with a dry microfiber cloth and occasionally applying a microcrystalline wax to prevent oxidation. Clean the marble top using a pH-neutral stone cleaner to avoid surface etching.
