A George IV Mahogany Library or Writing Table Attributed to Taprel. Stephen & Holland C.1830

19th century
Description

Lovely quality and proportions, veneered to the back so can be free-standing in a room if required.

*Taprell, Stephen & Holland (1803-1843) are recorded at St. James, Wesminster, London. In 1843 they became Holland & Sons. The attribrition is based on very similar but later tables bearing the Holland & Sons maker's stamp. Given the earlier date of this table it is likely to have been made by Taprell, Stephen & Holland.

Good original, unrestored condition. Structurally sound. The top has some small surface dents and blemishes, see image

* Source-Furniture History Society, British and Irish Furniture Makers Online

** Interestingly the renowed Scottish cabinet maker James Mein is recorded as using similar handles.

As always, reliable transport throughout the UK can be easily arranged at cost price. Please let me know if you would like a quote or have any other questions.
