19thC Chinese Antique Famille Verte Porcelain Fish Bowl Planter, 47cm Diameter.

A superb example of a stylish, substantial late 19th century porcelain fish bowl or planter with an exquisite field of hand painted decoration, featuring exotic birds and blossoms, complimented by Greek key fringe and other traditional motifs, lined with 9 carp fish to the inside.

A fine quality, generous size bowl with an impressive 47cm diameter and 40cm tall.

Presented in mostly excellent condition with a time worn surface craquelure to the glaze which authenticates its age, this is not a mass produced 20th century model but a heavy, hand produced and hand painted bowl that typically came out of Canton.

Please note, there are 2 feint, hairline cracks to the bowl upper rim, these do not undermine its structural integrity but must be mentioned for transparency, the bowl is otherwise structurally excellent.

A wonderful antique fish bowl or planter with considerable decorative appeal, an interior design piece that can enhance a classic or contemporary space.
