This Edwardian dining, kitchen or hall table follows a Jacobean Revival style, constructed from solid oak with a warm brown finish. The rectangular top sits above turned baluster legs joined by an H-frame stretcher, incorporating a carved central stretcher, pegged joints, and large pad feet. Visible details include moulded edges along the top and substantial overhang at both ends. Measuring 77 cm high, 105.5 cm wide, and 183 cm deep, the table provides ample surface area for daily meals or administrative tasks. It suits placement as a central dining or kitchen workspace, or as a large console surface in a traditional hallway or reception room within a home.

Refectory tables originated in medieval monasteries for communal dining and were characterised by stout wooden frames, turned legs, and low connecting stretchers.

Traditional oak dining tables feature solid timber construction with mortise and tenon joinery, hand-turned baluster legs, and wooden peg fastenings.

Authentic pieces display natural timber shrinkage along the grain, historical tool marks, authentic surface patination, and uneven wear on the stretchers from foot resting.

Pairing a substantial oak dining table with contemporary dining chairs or minimal pendant lighting creates a balanced contrast between historic craftsmanship and modern design.

Maintain the surface by dusting with a soft cloth, applying a high-quality beeswax polish annually, and protecting the timber from direct heat sources and standing liquids.
