Staffordshire pottery Prattware Lions plaque, c. 1810. The large, oval plaque moulded in deep relief, with two male lions, laid on grass, beneath blue sky. Decorated in vibrant Pratt style glaze, one lion in brown, the other in ochre. Within a thin ‘dash and dot border’, surrounded by a wider yellow glazed frame.
 
Pierced, during production, for suspension.
 
A particularly well moulded, and decorated example.
 
Width – 28.5 cm, 11 1/4”.
 
Height – 23 cm, 9 1/8”.
 
Condition – Small chip to the reverse, and typical firing faults. No restoration.
