A snuff mull is a small container historically used in Scotland to hold powdered tobacco, known as snuff, which users would inhale or ingest nasally.

These pieces were typically crafted from natural animal horn, often shaped with heat, and fitted with metal mounts such as silver, pewter, or brass, featuring hinged lids.

Authentic items typically display genuine signs of age such as natural horn striations, appropriate wear on metal components, and historical makers marks or hallmarks where applicable.

This type of historical artefact works well displayed as a cabinet curiosity, styled on a bookshelf alongside leather-bound volumes, or placed on a mantelpiece as a focal point.

Natural horn should be kept away from direct sunlight and extreme heat sources to prevent cracking, and cleaned gently with a dry or slightly damp soft cloth without harsh chemicals.
