FAQs

Copper planters gained widespread popularity during the 19th century, transitioning from utilitarian kitchen vessels and wash tubs into decorative jardinieres used to house exotic indoor plants and ferns during the Victorian era.

These pieces were typically hand-beaten from sheet copper, featuring rolled rims for structural rigidity and joined using physical rivets or dovetail seams along the base and sides.

Authentic period pieces exhibit genuine hand-hammered marks, heavy gauge metal, historical oxidisation patterns, and period-appropriate joining techniques such as hand-hammered copper rivets rather than modern machine welding.

An antique metal vessel adds warmth and texture when contrasted against minimalist architecture, functioning effectively as an indoor tree container or a fireplace hearth accessory filled with logs.

To preserve the natural green verdigris patina, clean only with a soft, dry cloth and avoid harsh chemical polishes or abrasive pads that strip the historical surface layers.
