An Impressive Egyptian Inspired Inkstand

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Culvertons

This impressive 1920s brass inkstand is decorated to reflect the international interest and excitement for Egyptology during that period. Egyptian mania was at its height when excavators, led by Howard Carter, discovered Tutankhamun''s tomb in the Valley of the Kings in 1922. An episode in our history that still spurs discussion and intrigue. Overall the inkstand is in excellent original condition. The oversized glass ink wells ( 7 cm x 7cm x 6 cm high) are particularly pleasing and have only very minor chips to three corners. These cannot be seen when the ink wells are in situ and when considering their function, age, and fragility, I feel these can be forgiven. There is plenty of room for up to eight pens on the front of this attractive inkstand. A lovely decorative addition to a desk.
