Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian copper fish kettle follows an elongated oval form with a fitted top lid, accompanied by heavy riveted brass handles and a visible tin-lined rim. The metal surface displays a warm copper tone with a weathered patina, showing signs of historic use across its heavy metal body. Measuring 17.78 cm high, 20.32 cm wide, and 66.04 cm deep, it provides a practical scale for traditional culinary tasks. Placed on a kitchen island or displayed within a rustic farmhouse interior, this piece serves as both functional cookware and a decorative antique accessory. The heavy gauge metal construction and period hardware offer an authentic historical appearance suitable for display in a contemporary home.

FAQs

A fish kettle, or poissonniere, is a specialized long culinary pan designed specifically for poaching whole fish intact in a liquid bath.

Traditional fish kettles were crafted from heavy-gauge copper for even thermal conductivity, featuring hand-riveted brass or copper side handles and a interior tin lining.

Authentic historic pieces feature hand-hammered copper construction, copper rivets securing brass handles, tin linings showing honest wear, and substantial weight.

In modern homes, these elongated vessels are frequently repurposed as decorative table centrepieces, planter troughs for indoor herbs, or display objects on open kitchen shelving.

To preserve the natural patina, clean copper exterior surfaces with a soft cloth and suitable metal polish, avoiding harsh chemical strippers or abrasive pads.
