Description

Late 19th century Chinese carved hardwood "Dragon" centre table. The base with carved and stylised square cabriole legs with carved frieze all round. The top with matching carving around the edge part. The top lifts off the base which is totally original. The colour is very good, it almost looks like walnut. Finished all round so can be free standing.

This nineteenth-century Chinese export centre table displays a rectangular form constructed from warm brown hardwood with a polished surface reminiscent of walnut. The top features a central recessed panel framed by a wide border of carved dragon motifs and Shou characters, complemented by a matching carved relief frieze running all around the base and sculpted cabriole legs. Measuring 67 cm high, 91.5 cm wide, and 61 cm deep, the table includes a top that lifts off the original base and is finished on all sides so it can stand freely in a room.
