Prometheus Antiques has dated this piece to the 1920s.
The ducks are British breeds and really are well observed in a variety of positions. The lake setting does remind one of Scotland or the north of England. The marquetry panel is beautifully framed by walnut and a simple mahogany edge, as a sign of the quality it is even very nicely veneered on the reverse in walnut. This type of marquetry panel is often associated with the Rowley Gallery which commissioned artist at the beginning of the twentieth century to create designs for wooden panels. This piece is not marked but it is certainly of the quality of these Rowley panels if not better. C.1920.
