We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A cellarette is a lockable container historically used in the 18th and 19th centuries to store bottles of wine and spirits safely beneath the dining room sideboard or table before they were served.

Authentic period pieces are typically crafted from dense timbers such as mahogany or oak, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints, internal lead-lined partitions for ice and bottles, and structural brass banding for reinforcement.

Authenticity is determined by examining the patination of the timber, the hand-forged or cast brass fixings, period-appropriate joinery methods, and the presence of internal lead lining or bottle divisions.

This piece works effectively as a distinctive side table, a plant stand, or a functional repository for bottled beverages in a formal living room, study, or dining space.

Maintain the timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and occasionally applying a traditional beeswax to nourish the finish.
