Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Corbels are structural or decorative projections from a wall, historically used in architecture to support superincumbent weight such as arches, beams, or shelf loads, dating back to ancient construction methods and evolving significantly through medieval and classical eras.

Traditional corbels were predominantly hand-carved from dense hardwoods like oak, pine, or walnut using hand chisels and gouges, often displaying joint marks and tool patination consistent with period joinery.

Authenticity is determined by examining the wood grain density, hand-tool markings, natural oxidisation, historical patina, and consistency of wear patterns that match centuries of aging rather than mechanical distress.

They can be mounted on walls as standalone sculptural art pieces, repurposed as floating shelf supports, or integrated into bespoke joinery to add historical depth and architectural interest to modern spaces.

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight, dusting gently with a dry microfiber cloth, and occasionally treating the timber with museum-grade microcrystalline wax to protect the historical surface.
