This is a good 19th century Chinese Famille Rose trefoil dish in perfect condition dating from around 1870. The dish is profusely hand decorated and gilded with images of figures on a pagoda terrace and has delightful floral panel with birds and butterflies.

This is in beautiful, crisp original condition with no damage or restoration.

The dish measures 28 cms by 26 cms by 3 cms high.

Famille Rose refers to Chinese porcelain decorated with opaque pink enamels derived from gold, introduced during the Qing dynasty in the early 18th century. These pieces were tailored extensively for Western export markets, featuring elaborate floral, insect, and figurative motifs.

Pieces were crafted from fine kaolin clay fired at high temperatures to create dense white porcelain. Artisans applied overglaze enamels and gilding by hand before subjecting the item to a secondary lower-temperature firing to fix the colours.
