Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century Italian stick stand is shaped in a trefoil design from walnut timber with a warm brown finish. Three turned upright supports rise from a shaped base to a matching upper tier, decorated with pointed finials and detailed cross-hatched geometric carving across the wooden surfaces. A metal drip tray is fitted into the lower platform to catch moisture from umbrellas and walking sticks. The piece stands 77 cm high, 45 cm wide, and 29 cm deep. Suitable for a gentleman's library or beside the front door, the stand organises daily accessories while adding historical character to a hallway. The compact footprint allows it to sit flush against an entryway wall or in a narrow corridor without obstructing foot traffic. The open framework keeps items visible and accessible for everyday use.

FAQs

Apply high-grade beeswax regularly along the wood grain to nourish the timber finish, and keep the metal drip tray dry to prevent rust formation.

Position the stand near an entryway or front door, paired with classic walking sticks, brass-handled umbrellas, or structured dried botanicals to create a focal point.

Authentic pieces exhibit signs of historical wear, natural oxidisation in the drip pan, subtle irregularities from hand-turned posts, and traditional joinery techniques.

Antique stick stands were typically constructed from hardwoods such as walnut, oak, or mahogany, featuring turned upright pillars and an integrated metal drip tray at the base.

19th-century Italian woodwork frequently features rich walnut timber, hand-carved geometric diapering patterns, architectural influence, and turned column supports.
