Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Imari porcelain originates from the town of Arita in the Hizen province of Japan, exported extensively through the port of Imari to Europe from the late 17th century onwards.

Imari pieces are crafted from high-fired kaolin clay, painted with underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze iron red, gold, and secondary colours such as green or turquoise.

Authentic pieces typically feature hand-painted underglaze blue combined with thickly applied overglaze enamels and gilt, often showing signs of age such as wear on the foot rim and kiln imperfections.

An antique bowl can be displayed on a sideboard or console table as a standalone decorative accent, or used to bring historic pattern and rich colour to a curated tablescape.

Clean antique porcelain gently with a soft, dry cloth or hand wash with mild soap and lukewarm water when necessary, avoiding harsh detergents and abrasive scrubbers to protect the overglaze enamels and gilding.
