Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This rustic farmhouse coffee table dates from 1900 and functions as a functional barrel stand fitted with a square clear glass tabletop. The piece combines a weathered brown pine and oak timber frame joined with mortise and tenon details, featuring curved cradle supports and straight upright posts connected by low stretchers. The natural wood surfaces display visible grain variations, knots, and age-related weathering along the timber members. Measuring 60 cm high, 70 cm wide, and 70 cm deep, the table provides a low display surface suitable for a living room, conservatory, or garden room setting to hold decorative objects or everyday items.

FAQs

A barrel stand coffee table incorporates a traditional wooden cradle or thrall, originally crafted to support heavy wooden casks, which has been converted into a functional table by adding a flat surface such as glass.

These functional structures were typically constructed from durable, dense timbers such as oak, elm, or pine, held together using heavy mortise and tenon joinery to withstand substantial weight.

Authentic pieces feature signs of historical utility, including curved carved recesses tailored to hold rounded barrels, hand-hewn timber surfaces, traditional joinery, and natural patination or weathering.

Combine the textured, weathered timber base with sleek modern upholstery, neutral soft furnishings, and contemporary metal accents to create a balanced contrast between old and new.

Clean the glass surface with a dedicated glass cleaner and microfiber cloth, while gently dusting the wooden framework with a dry brush to preserve the natural grain and aged finish without removing its historic patina.
