FAQs

Traditional Chinese altar tables were placed in ancestral halls or family homes to hold ceremonial offerings, incense burners, and ancestral tablets.

These pieces are typically constructed from native hardwoods like elm, northern elm, or walnut, frequently utilizing traditional mortise and tenon joinery without metal nails.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut joinery, natural timber shrinkage, traditional lacquer or wax finishes, and wear patterns consistent with age rather than artificial distress.

Pair the linear silhouette with minimalist contemporary decor, large-scale abstract art, or simple ceramic vessels to create a balanced focal point in a hallway or living space.

Maintain the wood by keeping it away from direct heat sources and sunlight, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and occasionally applying natural beeswax to nourish the finish.
