The Georgian period spans the reigns of the first four Georges from 1714 to 1830, characterised by a transition from heavy walnut designs to the refined mahogany craftsmanship popularised by makers like Thomas Chippendale and George Hepplewhite.

These tables were typically constructed from dense hardwoods such as mahogany or oak, featuring brass ratchet or screw mechanisms beneath the top to allow for height adjustment.

Authentic pieces exhibit period joinery techniques such as hand-cut dovetails, genuine age-related patination, traditional timber shrinkage, and hand-forged or cast brass components without modern Phillips screws.

An antique lamp table functions effectively as a sophisticated side table beside a contemporary sofa or as a standalone display pedestal for lighting and small decorative objects in a living room.

Preserve antique wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent cracking, dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, and occasionally applying traditional beeswax to nourish the finish.
