FAQs

Neoclassical pediments draw inspiration from classical Greek and Roman architecture, experiencing significant revivals during the Georgian, Regency, and early 20th-century periods for formal interior and exterior styling.

These decorative elements were traditionally crafted from hardwoods like oak and mahogany, or softer timbers such as pine, often finished with gesso, plaster, or paint layers.

Authentic period pieces typically display hand-carved detailing, tool marks consistent with historical manufacturing techniques, and natural age-related patination or oxidisation on the timber and finishes.

A pediment can be mounted above internal doorways, styled as a focal point over a mantelpiece, or hung on a blank wall as a piece of three-dimensional architectural art.

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight to protect painted or finished surfaces, and gently cleaning with a dry microfiber cloth without harsh chemical solvents.
