Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian desktop inkwell belongs to the gentleman's library style of the 1900 period. The piece consists of a clear square-form crystal base with large facet-cut bevels on the sides and corners, paired with a sterling silver hinged lid and collar. The silver top has a wavy piecrust border and delicate engraved monogram decoration on the flat surface. The inkwell measures 8 cm in height. Today, this functional writing accessory suits placement on a study or office desk, serving as a decorative paperweight or working inkwell. The clear glass reveals subtle interior refraction while the polished silver lid adds a reflective metallic contrast. The item integrates well into traditional working spaces, executive suites, or period home offices alongside other antique stationery items.

FAQs

An Edwardian desktop inkwell is a stationery container produced between 1901 and 1910, designed to store liquid ink for dip pens, often featuring glass bases and decorative silver mounts.

Traditional inkwells were crafted using heavy cut glass or lead crystal bases for balance, topped with metal lids made from sterling silver, nickel, or brass.

Authentic silver components feature struck hallmark stamps indicating the purity mark, assay office location, maker mark, and date letter.

An antique crystal inkwell functions as a decorative object on an office desk, coffee table book stack, or library shelving system.

Wipe the glass body with a soft microfiber cloth dampened with warm water, and gently clean the metal lid using a specialised silver polishing cloth.
