This early 19th-century Regency writing table uses warm brown mahogany timber with visible grain, complemented by brass castors and turned wooden handles on the single drawer. The design includes square tapered legs, an adjustable reading slope set into the top with a lift-up flap, and internal compartments for a pen tray and ink wells. The visible timber shows gentle signs of age and natural wear across its surfaces. Standing at 72 cm high, 66 cm wide, and 50 cm deep, the table occupies a compact footprint. In a contemporary home, this versatile piece fits well in a study, home office, or bedroom as a dedicated writing desk or lamp table. The lift-up slope provides practical utility for reading or notebook work, while the drawer offers convenient storage for everyday stationery. The traditional aesthetic integrates smoothly into both classic and eclectic interiors as a functional surface.

Early 19th-century writing tables, typically produced during the Regency and Georgian eras, feature clean lines, high-quality mahogany construction, and practical functional elements such as hinged reading slopes and brass castors.

These tables were predominantly constructed from solid or veneered mahogany, featuring hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, turned wood knobs, and brass castors fitted to square tapered legs.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut joinery inside the drawers, historical timber shrinkage, original brass castors secured with period screws, and natural patination across mahogany surfaces.

Place the writing table in a hallway or study alcove paired with a modern desk lamp and minimalist artwork to contrast historic timber with contemporary design elements.

Preserve mahogany surfaces by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth, applying a wax polish annually, and keeping the piece away from direct heat sources to prevent timber movement.
