This George III oval Pembroke supper table dates from around 1800 and embodies classic Georgian design. Fashioned from rich dark brown mahogany, the piece displays two drop leaves flanking a reeded tambour body with a small curved drawer fitted with two circular brass knobs. The structure stands on slender square tapered legs terminating in small brass castors. Visible details include vertical reeding along the curved cupboard enclosure and brass hardware on the drawer front. Measuring 79.38 cm high by 46.36 cm wide and 79.38 cm deep, this compact table functions well in a modern home as an end table beside a sofa or as a decorative accent piece in a living room, hallway or study where surfaces can be easily extended using the drop leaves.

Originating in the eighteenth century, a Pembroke table is a compact occasional table featuring two drop-leaf flaps, a single drawer, and tapered or turned legs, designed for light dining, writing, or tea service.

Georgian Pembroke tables were predominantly constructed from solid and veneered mahogany, satinwood, or rosewood, often featuring oak or pine secondary woods for drawer linings alongside cast brass hardware.

Authentic George III pieces feature hand-cut dovetailed drawer joints, original brass castors and handles, hand-planed secondary timbers, and characteristic period construction techniques along the hinge rails.

A Pembroke table functions as an occasional side table beside a sofa, an entryway accent piece, or a bedside table, integrating historic woodwork into contemporary rooms.

Dust the surface regularly with a dry microfibre cloth, apply a non-silicone beeswax polish once or twice a year, and maintain stable indoor humidity levels away from direct heat sources.
