The William IV style, spanning roughly from 1830 to 1837, bridges late Regency and early Victorian aesthetics, characterised by robust proportions, classical influences, and a heavy reliance on richly figured exotic timbers.

Cabinet makers of this era predominantly utilised dense hardwoods such as mahogany, rosewood, and goncalo alves, often featuring high-gloss French polished finishes and brass castors.

Authenticity is determined by examining traditional joinery methods, timber ageing, original mechanical extension systems, makers stamps where applicable, and the characteristic heavy turned or carved legs.

Pairing a substantial period table with modern minimalist seating or contrasting textures helps ground a contemporary dining space while highlighting the historical craftsmanship.

Maintain stable indoor humidity and temperature levels, avoid direct sunlight to prevent fading, and clean surfaces regularly with a soft, dry cloth without harsh chemical polishes.
