London City Antiques has dated this Georgian Mahogany Card Table to the 18th Century.
This is an independent date report produced by Sellingantiques using its own proprietary system. The process uses the photographs shown on this page. The system is never told the date the dealer has declared. This report shows that the two dates corroborate.
The table stands on four elegant cabriole legs, each finely carved at the knees with flowing foliate decoration and terminating in wonderfully shaped claw-and-ball feet.

Of particular interest is the unusual concertina-action mechanism. Rather than the conventional single swinging gateleg arrangement, the rear section extends through a hinged folding framework, allowing the tabletop to open into a generous square playing surface. The interior is lined in traditional green baize, providing an attractive surface for cards and other games.

When closed, the table serves beautifully as a Georgian console, side or occasional table, ideal for displaying a lamp, flowers or decorative objects in a drawing room, hallway or library. Its relatively shallow depth makes it particularly versatile, while the concealed card table provides an additional practical function.

An elegant and highly versatile example of Georgian furniture, combining attractive proportions, decorative craftsmanship and an ingenious folding mechanism.
Condition Report
Very good antique condition with a rich mahogany colour and attractive patina. Minor surface marks and gentle wear consistent with age and use. The carved legs and claw-and-ball feet retain their fine detailing, and the table opens to reveal a green baize playing surface.
