Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This large French chateau jardiniere table from 1900 is made of painted wood, zinc, and metal in an off-white colour. The oval body has a hand-painted pastoral scene on the side, and it stands on cabriole legs with shell carvings at the top and pad feet at the base. Inside sits a removable green metal liner with a small handle on the rim. The surface shows minor wear consistent with age, and the off-white paint has a soft, aged finish. Measuring 48 cm high, 109 cm wide, and 64 cm deep, this planter works well in a bay window or a living room to hold potted plants or flowers. It brings a touch of classical French style to any interior space while offering a practical display surface for greenery.

Originating in eighteenth-century France, jardiniere tables were designed as decorative interior furniture intended to display living plants and floral arrangements in formal reception rooms and conservatories.

These pieces generally feature a carved timber frame finished with gesso and paint, incorporating a fitted zinc or tin metal liner to protect the wooden chassis from water damage.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-carved joinery, natural age-related distress to the painted surfaces, period-correct shell or scroll motifs, and custom-fitted metal interior inserts.

Positioned in a bay window, hallway, or conservatory, the piece functions as an elevated planter for orchids, ferns, or spring bulbs, providing architectural structure and botanical focus.

Ensure plant pots remain within the internal metal liner to prevent moisture contact with the painted timber frame, and clean the external painted surfaces gently using a soft, dry cloth.
