This early 19th-century side table belongs to the Regency period and follows a rustic farmhouse style. Constructed entirely from oak with a dark brown timber colour, the piece has a circular plank top held by three turned legs. A lower triangular stretcher reinforces the structure, and visible signs of age appear across the worn wooden surfaces. The table stands 61 cm high, 61 cm wide, and 57 cm deep. Position this small wooden stand at the end of a sofa in a living room, bedroom, or hallway to hold lamps, drinks, or books. The compact three-legged design fits neatly into tight corners and smaller spaces while maintaining a sturdy presence in daily use.

A cricket table is a traditional form of British country furniture defined by its circular top and three-legged structure. Originating in the 16th and 17th centuries, the three-legged design ensured stability on uneven stone or flagstone floors common in taverns and rural cottages.

Cricket tables were primarily constructed from regional hardwoods such as oak, ash, or elm, often joined with wooden dowels or mortise and tenon joints. The tops were typically made from wide solid planks, supported by turned or straight splayed legs connected by lower stretchers.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-hewn construction marks, shrinkage gaps between plank tops, and natural wear patterns on the stretchers from feet resting on them. The timber often shows deep patination, uneven tool marks, and historical pegging rather than modern screws.

An antique cricket table serves as a functional side table alongside a sofa, an accent piece in a hallway, or a bedside table. Its simple geometric form and rich timber tones blend effectively with both minimalist modern furniture and traditional country schemes.

Maintain solid oak furniture by dusting regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and applying beeswax polish once or twice a year to preserve the patina. Avoid placement near direct heat sources or in areas of extreme humidity fluctuations to prevent cracking or warping.
