Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian rustic country kitchen table uses stripped pine in a warm brown colour, showcasing an attractive grain and characterful signs of age. Details include a rectangular plank top with rounded corners, a deep shaped apron with corner cut-outs, mortise and tenon joinery, and four turned legs with scuffs and losses to the finish. The well-worn top has visible marks, splits between the boards, and variations in colour, while the edges and legs display further wear and fading consistent with age and use. Measuring 78 cm high, 137 cm wide, and 59.5 cm deep, the narrow proportions allow it to fit comfortably in smaller kitchens or dining areas. Today, this piece serves well as a practical work table or a dining surface in compact homes. It functions effectively in a rustic farmhouse interior, providing both utility and a robust, aged patina.

FAQs

During the nineteenth century, pine kitchen tables served as utilitarian work surfaces in European households, featuring solid plank tops and sturdy turned or tapered legs designed for heavy food preparation.

These tables were constructed from solid softwoods, predominantly Scots pine or Scandinavian redwood, featuring mortise and tenon joinery with plank tops secured by wooden pegs or cleats.

Authentic pieces display historical wear such as hand-planed top surfaces, slight shrinkage gaps between planks, natural wood oxidisation, turned leg profiles consistent with historic wood-turning techniques, and original construction joinery.

A narrow pine table functions as a compact dining surface, a kitchen island alternative, a hallway console table, or a desk within a home office setting.

Timber should be hydrated using beeswax or clear furniture wax applied along the grain, while liquid spills should be wiped immediately with a dry cloth to prevent moisture marking on raw or waxed surfaces.
