Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

This Regency card table uses dark brown rosewood with a warm timber grain, fashioned into a fold-over top fitted with a carved edge. The solid rosewood pedestal column has reeded and carved details, rising from a quadform platform base that rests on carved paw feet with decorative carved edges along the platform. The piece stands 75 cm high, 92 cm wide, and 46 cm deep. Placed against a narrow wall space in a modern home, the table functions as a console or side surface when closed, and opens to provide a game or display top. The traditional form integrates into a living room, hallway, or study as an accent piece.

FAQs

Produced during the early 19th century, Regency card tables feature classical proportions, fine wood veneers such as rosewood or mahogany, and decorative details like turned pedestals, brass mounts, or carved claw feet.

Craftsmen favoured rich hardwoods such as rosewood and mahogany, often incorporating flame veneers, brass inlay, and baize linings on the interior playing surface.

Genuine period pieces display authentic hand-cut joinery, original patination on the timber, swivel or fold-over mechanisms with antique hinges, and characteristic design motifs like pedestal bases and carved paw feet.

When folded closed, the table functions as an elegant console in an entryway, dining room, or narrow hallway, providing a surface for table lamps, decorative ceramics, or art.

Preserve the finish by wiping dust away with a soft microfibre cloth, applying beeswax sparingly once or twice a year, and keeping the piece away from direct heat sources and high humidity.
