A bijouterie table is a glazed display cabinet designed specifically for showcasing small precious items, collections, and jewellery, gaining significant popularity during the Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian periods.

These tables are traditionally constructed from fine hardwoods such as mahogany, rosewood, or satinwood, often featuring hand-cut dovetail joints, glass panels, fabric-lined interiors, and intricate marquetry or brass stringing.

Authentic pieces generally exhibit period-appropriate joinery, hand-blown or early float glass with minor imperfections, natural timber oxidisation, and traditional hardware such as brass castors and small working locks.

An antique display table can serve as a focal point in a living room or study, offering a functional surface to curate small collections of curiosities, medals, or vintage accessories while contrasting against modern minimalist furnishings.

Maintenance involves keeping the timber away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent warping, using a soft lint-free cloth for dusting, applying a quality beeswax periodically to nourish the wood, and cleaning glass with mild, non-ammonia solutions.
