Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

A Stevengraph is a miniature picture woven in silk, pioneered by Thomas Stevens in Coventry, England, during the 19th century. These pieces typically depicted popular sporting events, historical scenes, and portraits.

These items were produced using modified Jacquard looms equipped with fine coloured silk threads. They were often mounted onto printed card mounts and housed in modest wooden frames.

Authentic pieces usually feature woven text at the bottom indicating the maker, title, and place of manufacture, such as Woven in silk by Thomas Stevens, Coventry and London. The reverse often includes manufacturer labels or framing details from the period.

These small-scale woven artworks suit gallery walls alongside other framed ephemera, or placement on narrow wall spaces and library shelves where their detailed craftsmanship can be closely appreciated.

Silk textiles are sensitive to ultraviolet light and humidity. Preservation requires framing behind protective glass, keeping the piece away from direct sunlight, and avoiding damp environments to prevent fibre degradation.
