Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Swedish folk art console table dates from 1920 and is made from hazelnut and willow wood with unpeeled tree bark. The demilune top has a patterned teal and dark brown painted surface, resting upon a base of rustic criss-cross branches and upright bark legs. Measuring 74 cm high, 90 cm wide, and 51 cm deep, the table stands on simple cylindrical feet formed by the natural log ends. Placed beside the front door or in a hallway, this rustic farmhouse piece provides a practical surface for everyday items. The natural wood grain shows variation in tone from deep espresso browns to lighter wood knots exposed on the upright supports. The structural design combines diagonal branch stretchers beneath the surface to support the half-round top.

FAQs

Swedish folk art furniture emerged in rural communities and is characterised by functional designs crafted from local natural materials, often featuring hand-painted elements or raw timber construction.

These items typically utilise unpeeled tree branches, local softwoods, and natural mineral pigments for decorative paintwork on flat surfaces.

Original pieces feature traditional joinery, natural surface wear on unpeeled bark, period-appropriate timber, and original mineral paint finishes.

Position the table in an entryway or hallway paired with contemporary artwork or a minimalist mirror to create contrast between organic texture and clean architectural lines.

Clean gently with a soft dry brush to remove dust from textured bark, avoid humid environments, and keep out of direct sunlight to protect painted surfaces.
