This Regency style breakfast table takes the form of a circular mahogany tilt-top dining table with warm brown tones. The timber top displays rich figuring, encircled by a contrasting satinwood crossbanded border with fine dark stringing. The central turned pillar transitions into four swept, reeded splayed legs finished with bright brass castors. Standing 71 cm high and 125 cm wide, the table offers ample surface area for daily family meals or casual dining. In a modern interior, the piece serves as a sophisticated centrepiece in a traditional dining room or a spacious kitchen breakfast area. The tilt-top mechanism allows the surface to fold away compactly when floor space is needed. The combination of dark polished mahogany and golden satinwood inlay integrates easily into classic and transitional decor schemes, pairing well with various chair styles around a central dining arrangement.

Tilt-top breakfast tables became prominent during the late 18th and early 19th centuries, particularly throughout the Regency period. Designed for multi-functional dining spaces, the hinged mechanism allowed the table surface to tilt vertically when not in use, enabling rooms to be cleared easily for entertaining.

Regency tables predominantly feature dense flame mahogany veneers, often accented with contrasting timber crossbanding such as satinwood or rosewood. Construction typically includes a heavy central pedestal supported by three or four splayed, reeded legs terminating in brass cap castors, secured with a brass snap-latch mechanism underneath.

Authentic period examples display hand-cut dovetails on the bearer rails, original brass spring catches on the block, and natural wear patterns on the tilt mechanism. Original wood patination, oxidation on the underside of the tabletop, and period-correct castors secured with square nuts are key indicator marks.

A circular pedestal table serves as a functional focal point in open-plan dining areas, modern breakfast nooks, or large foyers. Pairing the dark timber with contemporary light-coloured upholstery or surrounding it with minimalist dining chairs creates a balanced contrast between period craftsmanship and modern design.

Maintain the timber by applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year using a soft cloth, buffing along the grain. Keep the table away from direct sunlight and heat radiators to prevent veneer movement or fading, and periodically inspect the brass release catch to ensure smooth mechanical operation.
