FAQs

Moorish revival furniture gained immense popularity during the Victorian era, heavily influenced by international expositions, exoticism, and Islamic architecture. Artisans combined traditional geometric woodwork with European furniture forms to create striking decorative pieces.

These tables are typically constructed from dense hardwoods such as walnut, sheesham, or beech. Construction features intricate hand-carved lattice panels, geometric mashrabiya work, and delicate bone or wood inlay.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut joinery, natural ageing of the timber, subtle asymmetries characteristic of manual craftsmanship, and traditional fastening methods rather than modern metal screws.

This table works effectively as an eclectic focal point in a neutral living space, contrasting sharply against modern minimalist furniture to add texture, warmth, and historical depth.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry brush to reach into carved recesses, and apply a microcrystalline wax sparingly once or twice a year to nourish the timber without damaging delicate inlay.
