FAQs

A 19th-century centre table is a freestanding piece of furniture designed to be viewed from all sides, typically placed in the middle of a room, featuring a central pedestal base and a decorative top.

These tables were predominantly constructed using dense hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, oak, and rosewood, frequently complemented by secondary framing woods like pine.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate joinery, hand-turned elements, aged patina on the wood finish, and historical hardware such as brass castors beneath the feet.

An antique centre table functions effectively as a focal point in an open hallway or living space, paired with minimalist contemporary seating to create a balanced contrast between old and new.

Preserve the wood by avoiding direct sunlight and excessive humidity, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and occasionally applying a natural beeswax polish to nourish the finish.
