A quaich is a traditional Scottish shallow two-handled drinking vessel, historically used for sharing a welcome or parting drink of whisky among friends and family.

Traditional quaichs were hand-carved from native woods such as pine, laburnum, or oak, often utilizing solid-turnery or stave-built construction techniques reinforced with wooden hoops or pins.

Authentic early pieces display hand-tooled tool marks, deep patination from handling, shrinkage cracks consistent with age, and traditional lug handle shapes typical of Scottish folk art.

An antique wooden vessel can be displayed as a sculptural object on a mantelpiece, coffee table, or open bookshelf, highlighting its tactile texture and historical craftsmanship.

Antique treen should be kept away from direct sunlight and dramatic humidity fluctuations, occasionally treated with microcrystalline wax to nourish the dry wood without sealing the historic surface.
