Chelsea-Derby porcelain refers to items manufactured at the Derby factory after William Duesbury acquired the Chelsea porcelain works in 1770, typically spanning the period from 1770 until approximately 1784.

Factories like Derby utilised soft-paste porcelain bodies finished with rich enamels, cobalt blue underglazes, and extensive hand-applied gilding cured in kilns.

Authentic pieces often feature characteristic anchor and D marks, distinctive paste composition visible on unglazed rims, and fine hand-painted polychrome decoration typical of period artisans.

These decorative items can be mounted on walls using specialized plate hangers or displayed upright in glass-fronted cabinets to add historic colour and texture to a room.

Antique porcelain should be cleaned exclusively by hand using lukewarm water and mild soap, avoiding dishwashers, harsh chemicals, and abrasive sponges to protect the delicate gilding and enamels.
