Description

I will always buy original Spanish olive pots when I can as I honestly believe no other pot can add the same level of quality rustic charm as these. They are hand thrown terracotta, very thick and show signs handsomely of years of use. These pots were usually owned by one family for their entire life and re used constantly. This is why you will see occasionally olive pots that have been stapled as if these broke they were expensive to replace and were often repaired which is a very romantic look back at country life.

This example is one of the repaired examples and looks all the better for it. Stapled on one side with original iron brackets. Neat design with plenty of character.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Traditional olive jars originated in Spain and the Mediterranean, handcrafted from local clay to ferment, store, and transport olive oil and other agricultural goods.

These vessels are constructed from heavy-fired local terracotta clay, often featuring hand-thrown bodies and historical metal staple repairs used to mend cracks.

Authenticity is indicated by historical metal staples, uneven hand-thrown surfaces, natural weathering, and authentic mineral deposits within the clay body.

Placed in an empty corner or styled on the floor, these large vessels add textural contrast and organic warmth to minimalist or rustic spaces.

Keep the unglazed terracotta dry and clean with a soft brush, and protect it from freezing temperatures if displayed outdoors to prevent cracking.
