Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

Pie crust tables first emerged during the 18th century in Britain, typically associated with the Georgian and Chippendale periods, featuring a raised, carved edge resembling traditional pastry crusts.

Authentic period pieces are constructed from dense hardwoods like walnut or mahogany, often utilizing highly figured veneers on the top surface supported by mortise and tenon joinery and solid carved cabriole legs.

Authenticity is assessed through the examination of timber shrinkage, traditional hand-carved details rather than cast resin, natural patination of the wood finish, and period-appropriate construction methods on the underside.

Pairing this traditional item with modern minimalist upholstery or placing it within a transitional scheme creates a sophisticated contrast that highlights its historical craftsmanship and rich timber grain.

Maintain the wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth, and occasionally applying professional beeswax to nourish the finish without using silicone-based polishes.
