Vintage studio easels typically feature robust, functional construction designed to securely hold large canvases for painting and display, reflecting the utilitarian needs of 20th-century artists.

These pieces were predominantly constructed from durable hardwoods such as oak, often complemented by iron or brass adjustment mechanisms for stability and longevity.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural timber ageing, traditional joinery techniques, and period-appropriate metal hardware such as cast iron cranks or brackets rather than modern synthetic components.

It can be used functionally in a home studio or repurposed in a living space to display framed art, vintage mirrors, or photographs, adding architectural height and character.

Maintain the timber by dusting regularly with a dry cloth and occasionally applying natural beeswax to nourish the wood and prevent it from drying out.
