This Regency period card table takes the form of a fold-over games table in dark brown rosewood, highlighted with fine brass inlay work and brass-trimmed panels around the frieze. The swivel-action top sits on a reeded central column with a turned pedestal stem, supported by four shaped, swept legs terminating in brass castors. Visible details include ornate brass scrolls on the corners of the top surface and polished brass mounts on the feet. Measuring 71.5 cm high, 91 cm wide, and 45 cm deep, this table provides a compact surface for entertaining and everyday placement. In a modern home, it serves well in an empty corner, hallway, or living space as a decorative accent piece that converts easily for card games and domestic use.

Regency card tables, dating from the early 19th century in Britain, typically feature classical proportions, fold-over swivel tops, and decorative brass inlay or stringing set into dark hardwoods such as rosewood or mahogany.

These tables were commonly crafted using rosewood or mahogany veneers over solid timber frames, accentuated with cut-brass marquetry, turned pedestal stems, and brass castors.

Authentic Regency examples display hand-cut brass inlays, original brass castors, hand-planed secondary timbers beneath the swivel mechanism, and natural patination across the timber and metalwork.

A Regency card table functions effectively as a hallway console table, positioned behind a sofa, or set in an alcove beneath a mirror or contemporary artwork to contrast historical craftsmanship with modern decor.

Position the table away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer lifting. Apply high-grade beeswax polish along the wood grain and gently wipe brass elements with a dry microfibre cloth without using abrasive chemical cleaners.
