FAQs

Chinese tea caddies were traditionally crafted to preserve the aroma and quality of loose leaf tea, often featuring symbolic motifs and intricate metalwork reflective of the eras artistic traditions.

These pieces are typically fashioned from brass or white metal alloys, utilising hand-engraving, etching, and repousse techniques to create detailed botanical and geometric patterns.

Authenticity is generally determined by weight, natural patina, hand-chased detailing rather than modern stamping, and traditional construction methods appropriate to the period.

Position the piece on a mantelpiece, bookshelf, or coffee table as a focal decorative object, pairing it with books or ceramics to add textural contrast and historical depth.

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth and avoid harsh chemical polishes or abrasive cleaners to preserve the historic patina and prevent damage to the engraved surfaces.
